Project 24/7 Casino Haarlem
- Haarlem, The Netherlands
- Project 24/7
- Final Project Master of Science
- 15000m2
- 60 x 40 x 32m
Conceived as a continuous volume, the building for a new Casino and entertainment center of Haarlem emerges from the surrounding natural landscape of the Sparne river, expanding longitudinally and progressively rising from soft material into a stretched sculptural object.
The 60m long floating building is lifted off the ground by four structures, which extend to a form a shallow plinth – allowing the introduction of landscape at entrance level and producing terraces for public use. The creation of this 'transitory' area attracts and invites visitors into the building and the cultural, entrepreneur and entertainment activities it facilitates. The building becomes a powerful attractor not only for casino visitors but for all citizens of Haarlem.
